College Scholarships
We provide free education, books and uniforms to children from extremely poor families, typically earning well below minimum wage. Parents work as sweepers, maids, roadside hawkers.
We provide computer skills training to girls from poor families and rural areas.
We provide college scholarships to deserving children who are not able to afford a college education.
OUR MISSION
We provide equal education opportunities to children from economically weaker sections of society. Our goal is to see these children grow and lift their families out of poverty.
Education is the only sustainable way to lift families from poverty
- Children we educate come from extremely poor families
- Parents work as sweepers, maids, plumbers, painters, hawkers, carpenters, daily odd-job laborers
- Parents incomes are below minimum wage (typically Rs. 7500 per month, approximately $100)
Lata, a student in class 9 with her family
This small room is the entire home for Lata’s family. Her father is a mason, and earns below minimum wage.
Lata says “I can achieve whatever I want, as long as I put my mind to it”, a befitting motto for a child whose family has very limited means to kindle dreams. The Trust donated her a chair and table after seeing that she sits on the ground to study.
Amrit, a student of our school in class 2 with his family
Amrit's father is a labourer and does petty jobs, earning well below minimum wage.
In a tear-jerking story, we were told that when food was scarce, Amrit asked that his younger brother be fed first. It is heartwarming to see such a small child with limited means to put others’ needs before his own.
